How can I help?

Understanding how your mind works can help many pieces start to fall into place.
We assess ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, executive functions and cognitive profile to help you understand not only whether there is a diagnosis, but also how it presents for you, what challenges arise and what your strengths are.
- Who it is for
- Children, adolescents and adults
- Typical duration
- 5 sessions when assessing one neurodevelopmental condition · around 7 for two
- Format
- In person in Berlin and online when the assessment allows
Costs
- For people aged 21 and over, we do not work with health insurance.
- 110 € per session · Feedback session: 150 €
- For people under 21, self-payment and coverage options through public or private health insurance are available.
- Public health insurance
- For public health insurance to cover the costs (people under 21 only), the Kostenerstattung process must be completed. We will help you with this process.
Who it is for
For children, adolescents and adults who want to better understand how they function.
You may have spent a long time wondering why some things seem to require much more effort from you than from other people. Or you may have started to wonder whether ADHD, autism or another neurodivergent profile could underlie difficulties with attention, organisation, learning, communication or regulation.
You do not need to know exactly what to look for before you come. Part of the assessment is precisely to understand what may be happening.
What we assess
- ADHD and autism
- Dyslexia and dyscalculia
- Executive functions
- Cognitive profile
How it works
We understand your history
We do not begin by trying to confirm a label. We begin by understanding your history.
We assess your profile
The process combines a clinical interview, standardised tests and validated questionnaires with an assessment of your development, your current situation and the context in which the difficulties arise.
We bring the information together
From all this information, we build an overall picture of your profile.
We adapt the process
The process usually takes around 5 sessions when assessing one neurodevelopmental condition and around 7 for a combined assessment of two conditions—ADHD and autism, for example—although this may vary depending on the situation and what we need to explore.
What you receive
At the end, we will have a feedback session in which we:
- go through the results with you;
- answer your questions;
- discuss your challenges and strengths;
- consider possible next steps;
- and provide you with a written psychological report.
Format
Available in person in Berlin and online when the type of assessment can be carried out remotely.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the full process take?
It usually takes around 5 sessions when assessing one neurodevelopmental condition and around 7 for a combined assessment of two conditions, although this may vary depending on the situation.
Can the report be used for school, work or a doctor?
Yes. I provide a written report with the results. We will discuss its specific use in the feedback session.
Doesn’t diagnosis mean “putting someone in a box”?
No. A diagnosis can provide understanding, ease uncertainty and open up possibilities; it does not reduce anyone to a label.

It is not about learning to fit in better. It is about understanding what is hurting you and finding a way of living that fits you better.
A space to work through what is causing you distress today—emotions, relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, overwhelm or difficult life periods—with an approach that takes into account who you are and how your mind works.
Whether or not you have a diagnosis.
Who it is for
For children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing emotional difficulties or feel that some areas of their lives have become too difficult to manage.
You may come because of anxiety, difficulty regulating your emotions, low self-esteem, recurring painful relationship patterns, overwhelm, exhaustion, or simply because something is not working and you want to understand it better.
You do not need a diagnosis of ADHD, autism or another form of neurodivergence to begin.
How it works
First, we understand what is happening. Then we decide together what to work towards.
In the first sessions, we explore your situation, your history and what you would like to be different. From there, we define therapeutic goals and adapt the process to your needs and pace.
We do not start from the idea that you need to become someone else or learn to tolerate everything around you better. We work to distinguish what you can change, what you need to understand and where it may be necessary to adapt your environment or how you interact with it.
We review the process with you regularly, and there is no fixed number of sessions in advance.
Available in person in Berlin and online.
Costs
- For people aged 21 and over, we do not work with health insurance.
- 80 € per session
- For people under 21, self-payment and coverage options through public or private health insurance are available.
- Public health insurance
- For public health insurance to cover the costs (people under 21 only), the Kostenerstattung process must be completed. We will help you with this process.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a diagnosis to start therapy?
No. You can come with or without a diagnosis; what matters is your situation and your goals.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on each person and their goals. I do not set a number in advance; we review it together during the process.
Does online therapy work in the same way as in-person therapy?
In many cases, yes. Together, we consider which format best suits your situation and goals.
03Trauma and attachmentEMDRFor working through difficult experiences and trauma, when clinically appropriate.View information
Who it is for
For children, adolescents and adults who continue to be affected by difficult or traumatic experiences, as well as emotional blocks and attachment difficulties that still affect the present. EMDR is considered only when clinically appropriate, after assessing your situation and goals.
How it works
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-supported approach to trauma work. It can address memories that remain painful, blocks that hinder daily life and attachment-related patterns. At the first appointment, we assess whether it is a suitable approach and, where appropriate, integrate it into your therapeutic process at your pace and with prior preparation. Available in person in Berlin and online, in Spanish, German and English.
EMDR and ADHD from an attachment perspective
EMDR can also help address ADHD from an attachment perspective. This approach explores how early experiences, emotional safety and nervous-system regulation may relate to difficulties with attention and self-regulation. When clinically appropriate, EMDR work aims to restore a sense of internal safety and improve regulation, without reducing a person’s experience to a single explanation.
Is EMDR right for me?
It is not always the best option. Before starting, we consider together whether it fits your situation and goals.
Can it be combined with psychological therapy?
Yes. It is usually integrated into a broader therapeutic process.
Can it be done online?
In many cases, yes, with appropriate preparation. We assess this based on your situation.
04Practical strategiesADHD and autism coachingIt is not about trying harder. It is about finding strategies that work for you.View information
It is not about trying harder. It is about finding strategies that work for you.
We work with you to turn everyday difficulties into practical solutions: organisation, time management, routines, procrastination, overwhelm, study, work or relationships.
We start from how your mind works, not how it is supposed to work.
From diagnosis to your everyday life
Learning that you have ADHD or are autistic can explain many things.
But then another question often arises:
What do I do with this information now?
Coaching focuses precisely on this step: better understanding how you function and turning that knowledge into practical strategies you can use in everyday life.
We are not trying to teach you to appear less neurodivergent or force you to fit into systems that do not work for you. We work with you to discover what you need, what you can adapt and which tools make your life easier.
What can we work on?
- Organisation and planning: structuring tasks, projects and responsibilities without constantly relying on motivation.
- Time management: estimating how long things take more accurately, starting on time and reducing last-minute chaos.
- Procrastination and task initiation: understanding what blocks you and designing more accessible ways to get started.
- Routines and habits: building systems that are flexible enough to sustain.
- Executive functions: working memory, prioritisation, planning and task follow-through.
- Overwhelm and energy: recognising your limits, anticipating periods of overload and managing your resources more effectively.
- Sensory and environmental needs: identifying which aspects of your environment support you or make it harder to function.
- Work or study: developing strategies adapted to your actual needs.
- Communication and relationships: better understanding your needs and learning to express them.
- After diagnosis: integrating what you have learned about yourself and reconsidering some expectations, habits or ways of organising your life.
How does it work?
We do not come with a universal list of ADHD or autism tips.
First, we work with you to identify what is happening, when the difficulties arise and which strategies you have already tried.
From there, we experiment with specific tools, adaptations and systems until we find those that genuinely fit you and your life.
Between sessions, you can try them out. At the next session, we review together what worked, what did not and what we need to adjust.
The goal is not to build the perfect system.
It is to build one you can use.
Coaching or therapy?
Coaching focuses mainly on practical difficulties in the present and on developing strategies for daily life.
Psychological therapy is appropriate when you also want to work on emotional distress, difficult experiences, relationship patterns, anxiety, self-esteem or other psychological difficulties.
If you are unsure which option suits you best, we can guide you before you begin.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Coaching focuses on practical strategies and everyday goals; therapy addresses emotional concerns in greater depth. Sometimes they complement each other.
Do I need a diagnosis for coaching?
No. We can work from your profile and goals.
Can it help with work or study?
Yes. Organisation, executive functions and adaptations are central areas of coaching.
05FamiliesFamily guidanceWhen you understand what lies behind a behaviour, the way you respond to it changes.View information
When you understand what lies behind a behaviour, the way you respond to it changes.
A space for parents and caregivers who want to better understand their children’s needs, reduce conflict and find forms of support that work for the child and the whole family.
Understand before trying to change
You may have tried explanations, boundaries, rewards, consequences, routines or advice that seemed to work for other children, but not for yours.
And then the questions begin:
Family guidance offers a space to understand what may lie behind these difficulties and find more effective ways to support your child.
We are not trying to turn you into the perfect parent.
We want to help you understand your child better and have more tools to support them.
- Why is something that seems so simple so difficult for my child?
- Am I being too permissive?
- Do they need more boundaries?
- Is it ADHD? Autism? Anxiety?
- How can I help without every day ending in conflict?
What can we work on?
- Frequent conflict and arguments.
- Setting boundaries.
- Family routines and organisation.
- Difficulties with homework and schoolwork.
- Emotional regulation and moments of overwhelm.
- Frustration and impulsivity.
- Independence and responsibilities.
- Screen use.
- Sensory needs.
- Communication between parents and children.
- Social difficulties.
- Coordination with school.
- Understanding a recent ADHD or autism diagnosis.
- Differences between siblings’ needs.
- Exhaustion and the feeling that “we no longer know what to do”.
A different perspective on behaviour
Behaviour that is difficult to manage does not always mean a lack of willingness, boundaries or appropriate guidance.
Sometimes there are difficulties with emotional regulation, executive functions, communication, sensory processing, anxiety or overwhelm that we need to understand before deciding how to respond.
That does not mean there are no boundaries.
It means we try to ensure that those boundaries, expectations and strategies make sense for that child and family.
How does it work?
First, we try to understand what is happening. Then we look at what we can change.
Together, we look at the situations your family is finding difficult: what happens beforehand, how your child responds, how you react and what happens afterwards.
From there, we identify practical strategies you can try at home.
We do not offer a universal list of techniques for children with ADHD or autism. What works for one family may not work for another.
The goal is to find tools that fit your child, your context and your family’s everyday reality.
Is family guidance the same as an assessment?
No. It is a space to clarify your questions and decide on next steps; if an assessment is needed, we can consider it from there.
Does my child need a diagnosis?
No. You can seek guidance even if there is no diagnosis yet. We can work on the specific difficulties your family is experiencing and consider together whether a more in-depth assessment would be useful.
Does seeking family guidance mean we are doing something wrong as parents?
No. Parenting can become particularly complex when familiar strategies do not work or when a child’s needs are difficult to interpret. The aim is not to assign blame, but to better understand the situation and expand the family’s range of tools.
06CommunityGroups and workshopsGroup spaces focused on neurodivergence, offered according to demand and language.View information
Who it is for
Children, adolescents and adults interested in groups and workshops on neurodivergence.
How it works
All groups begin with an expression-of-interest list so that age, language, format and actual demand can be taken into account. In-person children’s groups are planned in Berlin, along with groups for adolescents and adults, including ADHD and autism groups, offered in person or online according to demand. They may be organised in Spanish, German or English.
The expression-of-interest list does not replace a clinical assessment or confirm a place; it helps us organise upcoming dates.
Costs
- Groups and workshops
- It depends on the individual group or workshop.
Frequently asked questions
When do the groups start?
They are organised according to demand. The expression-of-interest list will be used to communicate dates and format.
What language will the groups be in?
In Spanish, German or English, depending on demand for each group.

About me
I am Manuel Mateu García, a psychologist and psychotherapist licensed in Germany, with training in EMDR. I have spent years supporting people with ADHD and autism. Along the way, I came to understand that I am neurodivergent too, as are members of my family: in 2025, I received my own ADHD diagnosis.
This dual perspective—professional and personal—is the foundation of how I work: with scientific rigour, without judgement and without reducing anyone to a label. A diagnosis is not about putting someone in a box, but about providing understanding, easing uncertainty and opening up possibilities.
I offer sessions in Spanish, German and English, in person in Berlin and online.
